Checkmatenewyork.com presents “THE MOVE TOWARD CHANGE PROJECT.” In order to offer young adults an uplifting, unique, informative, life changing experience takes a tremendous amount of time and money.  Each workshop is designed to engage our youth by using the latest technology and equipment so that they may be up to date in their field of choice. We provide food, a ride to and from as well as “paid” Entertainment for each workshop. Your dollars will be used to ensure each student gets the proper training, and experience from each trade that we provide. 

Who we are

Checkmatenewyork.com is an urban lifestyle online magazine that caters to Hip Hop’s Elite. Log on and you can see the latest in Entertainment, News, Music, Videos, Fashion, Coupons, and V.I.P. events. We cater to people that want to remain in the know as well as move around the city on a budget.

“The Move Toward Change Project” was founded because we felt that Hip Hop needed to play a more powerful role in it’s own community.  Many Hip Hop fans, and aspiring artists come from the birth place of Hip Hop, and while NYC is the city of dreams it can quickly become a nightmare to those in need. During this “recession” the lost of jobs, housing, and the increase of expenses has lowered the spirits of once joyful New Yorkers. Most people are a pink slip away from being homeless. It’s Time for a change……………….

Our Current Project

In our current project we are implementing the “Making Changes” workshop series.  The Workshop’s consist of interactive experiences for inner city youth in dyer predicaments ie. shelters, group homes, etc..  Our goal is to help pave the way for their future by showing them different skills and opportunities other than what they are faced with on a day to day basis.  Our workshops include 2 ½ hour sessions of

  • Resume Building/ Interviewing Skills
  • Graphic Design/Website Building
  • Video/Audio Production
  • Photography
  • Journalism/Media

Our Mission

Our mission is to change the way of thinking in our communities. Many fans of the culture are accustomed to doing the same things, selling drugs, Going to the studio, playing ball etc. while that worked for a few the sad fact is that most do not make it in their field of choice. We in no way are trying to shatter dreams, but would like to provide another outlook on life. By providing interviewing workshops, entrepreneurial skill building, and motivational tools we hope to create and mold the next CEO………………Being that www.checkmatenewyork.com came from the  Ground up we would like to instill in our hip hop community some of the essentials that helped us along the way. By partnering with non-profit organizations to ensure proper implementation of our projects we hope to make that MOVE TOWARD CHANGE…………
