Fan-C
Give us some background info as to who you are.
My name is Fan-C. I'm a female rapper from Detroit. I've been making a major impact on the independent scene. Music is my passion. Music is my life. I immerse myself in music and use my gift to entertain and inform. I'm the type of female who believes in keepin it 100! And I say this because people tend to smile up in your face like they with You until the end but in reality they wish it was the end of you. So I tend to keep myself surrounded by honest and integrity filled individuals like myself.
What is the significance of your name?
The significance of my name is uniquely justified. As a little girl I always liked glitter and glam. Every school project I had I always begged my mom to buy me some glitter to sprinkle on my pictures to enhance it's beauty. I wanted to be a little star that shines bright in the sky; and although my star was tiny, people could still see it. The clothes that I wore and the hairstyles that I wore stood out. People would say to me that I'm so FANCY and that I dress real sharp. Thus, the name just stood with me.
Who is your target market?
My target market is comprised of music lovers ages 13 to 30. I want to reach the darker skin tone girls because they struggle the most in any business. As a little girl I was always judged on being dark skin and I felt I always had to prove myself or work harder due to my darker skin tone. I always felt that I was beautiful but some people's perception of my sexy chocolate skin tone held me back from things that I clearly had the credentials for. So I had to constantly push to get where I am. So, I want to inspire the dark skin sisters. However, I feel that females of all races will identify with me. All girls need to be empowered and uplifted and as women we need to become more in tuned with our self esteem. We need to uplift each other and not tear each other down. I also want to speak to men and educate men on how important it is to do right by women in general.
What single or project are you currently pushing?
The single I am currently pushing right now is a song called "Perpin," produced by Shadough and K.I.D.D from Detroit. The video can be found on Youtube. The "Perpin" video has over 80,000 hits to date from viewers all over the world. And the hits were accumulated over a 3 to 4 month period. I've been pushing the single real hard.
What is the philosophy by which you live by?
The philosophy I live by is "Don’t let the fear of striking out stop you from playing the game" and when someone’s hating on you that’s when you know you’re doing something right!

Which artists have inspired you?
I've been influenced and inspired by T.I., Foxy Brown, Queen Latifah and Nicki Minaj! I like T.I. because he consistently makes hits and no matter how hard he falls he dusts himself off and comes back even harder every time! I like Foxy Brown because lyrically she was very talented and her swag was off the chain. And Queen Latifah inspired me because she always kept it positive and her self esteem stayed high through all the scrutiny about her weight! And finally Nicki Minaj inspires me because she re-opened the door for female rappers that had been closed for so many years.
Who does your production?
I've worked with several great producers. However, K.I.D.D is the producer I am currently working with. K.I.D.D has produced for such artists like Rick Ross, Ludi, Jim Jones, Royce Da 5’9, B.G and the list goes on. He has inspired me to believe in myself and my project. Shadough and K.I.D.D produced my single "Perpin." I've also worked with a producer by the name of Detail, who produced the hit song "How To Love" by Little Wayne.
What is your opinion of the current state of the music industry?
I feel that the current state of music is doing good because it’s so many different ways to break into the industry than back in the day. I think it's a little more costly though because as an independent artist you have to put yourself out there financially without any help. But at the end of the day you will reap most of the benefits! And it's worth it.
Are there any artists that you would like to collaborate with in the future?
I would love to collaborate with Rappers T.I, Eminem, Luda, Fabulous and singers Trey Songz, Katy Perry, Lady Ga Ga, Tim Mcgraw and many more.
What producer would you like to collaborate with in the future?
The producers whom I would like to work with are DJ Toomp, Jim Jonsin, Swizz Beats, No I.D. and The Hitmen, P.Diddy's production team.
What are some major misconceptions that you think people have of you?
The Major misconception is that people assume that I'm not educated when in fact I have a B.A in Psychology and a M.A in Psychology! Once they find out that I'm educated then they assume that I'm not down to earth, when in fact I'm the most sweetest and humblest person you will ever meet! They judge me by how I dress and what I drive instead of getting to know me. But when they get to know me they fall in love with who I truly am not with who they think I am!
What is your favorite part of your live show? How has it evolved?
My favorite part of my live show is interacting with the crowd and seeing them enjoy my music just as much as I do. It has evolved in that I am more creative on stage now than when I started out.
What is your LP going to be like?
My LP will be exciting, relevant and current to events and lifestyles people live right now! I will touch on sensitive topics that artists are afraid to speak about that people face everyday! But all in all it will be motivating and thrilling. Every song will be worth listening to with no skipperz.. Lol (Skipperz are songs you skip as soon as you hear the beat)!
Do you have any final words for the people?
MY FINAL WORDS ARE THIS: IN THIS GAME YOU CAN ONLY SINK OR SWIM! SO WHICH ONE YOU PLAN TO DO? I'M TAKING THE YACHT!
